20/06/2012 – Today the European Commission has activated the single EU registry for all users. This follows the completion of the activation process announced on 3 May.
Jos Delbeke, Director General for Climate Action, said: “Today’s opening of the single registry marks a milestone for putting in place the infrastructure needed in phase 3 of the EU Emissions Trading System. The work by the Commission, together with Member States, provides for an efficient registry system with greatly increased security for users. In parallel, work is continuing and progressing well on the outstanding infrastructure elements, most importantly the auctioning infrastructure. Of course, a major change also brings the need for users to adapt to the new system. National helpdesks will continue to support them and the Commission stands ready to ensure a smooth start of the new registry set-up.”
